Yesterday the swedish minister for culture Amanda Lind met with Noomi Hedlund for an onstage talk about national, regional and local music policies.
Amongst other things they discussed the funding of communal music schools for children, the principle of separation between politics and artistic projects and the need for public access to information concerning e.g. salaries in different parts of the swedish music scene.
They also found common ground in a quote by former finance minister Ernst Wigforss:
“If society’s goal was to make all of us work maximally, then we would be insane. The goal is to set us free to create maximally. Dance. Paint. Sing. Yes, whatever you like. Freedom.”
The talk was part of an event arranged by think tank Unga tankar om musik.
